In 2021, Matt and Steve were sitting over a coffee, talking about shared interests. We both love music, we're both sociologists of work, and somehow, one of us blurted out the idea of merging these interests - by creating a way for people to find songs about different kinds of work and occupations. We imagined that this website would be helpful to teachers in classrooms, to union organizers, to the general working public, and perhaps to audiences unknown. We likewise wanted to make it a community resource: something that was read/write, perhaps in a limited way to start.

Three years later, here we are: you can search our database of over 500 songs by occupation, artist, genre and song title, and you can submit new candidates for the database.
